Summary: The Residential Counselor works a 4-day work week and has the primary responsibility for providing assistance, implementing program plans or procedures, and crisis intervention services during the hours assigned. In accomplishing this, the residential counselor has the following duties and responsibilities: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • The Residential Counselor functions as part of the treatment team and is responsible for direct care and supervision of students from the perspective of instructor or role model.
  • The Residential Counselor will supervise students at all times, know where they are, and consistently monitor physical and emotional status.
  • Know building and safety codes and emergency procedures.
  • Have basic first-aid and CPR certification, and TCI certification and be able to assist or initiate as needed for safety of staff and students, including physical restraints.
  • Maintain students’ confidentiality at all times, report all pertinent information to supervisor.
  • Clearly and concisely fill out Incident Reports as needed in a timely fashion.
  • Follow and maintain consistent daily schedule and routine.
  • Be familiar with students’ ICSPs.
  • Have solid understanding of students’ backgrounds (pre-placement), special needs and goals.
  • Act as a role model for students: maintain appropriate personal appearance, dress and demeanor.
  • Model appropriate expression of feeling and responses.
  • Develop positive, growth-producing relationship with students.
  • Offer support and feedback to team members
  • Actively participate in dorm and staff meetings, staff trainings and development of activities.
  • Pursue appropriate channels of communication
  • Understand the administrative structure, chain of command and program philosophy of VPI.
  • Appropriately represent VPI to the community, students’ parents and outside agencies.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary: The Para Educator will work closely with the Education Team to ensure the safety and well-being of the students while participating in the education program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: The Para Educator functions as part of the treatment team and is responsible for assisting the educators and supervision of students well in school.
  • The Para Educator will provide supported instruction and assessment to students as outlined/assigned by the teacher in support of the assigned academic casework or Individual Education Plan (IEP) needs.
  • Provide supportive supervision and participation to class activities including physical education, art, etc.
  • Assist with “wake-up” duties to the assigned campus dormitory.
  • Assist with behavioral interventions within the classroom as needed.
  • Assist with substitute lessons as assigned by the teacher and/or Asst. Director of Operations as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation that may be assigned by the supervisor such as attendance, Service Plan Logs, etc.
  • Assist with monitoring and supervising transitional times, lunch, and school ending activities for student accountability.
  • Assisting with community based activities and appointments related to students needs as assigned.
  • Provide assistance as requested by the Asst. Director of Operations or Education Program Coordinator in daily routines.
  • Participation in mandated and assigned professional trainings offered in the program.
  • Provide transportation with school vehicle for students/teacher activities as needed.
  • Participate in student meetings (such as IEP’s and ITP’s) as assigned by the Academic & Student Support Director or Asst. Director of Operations.
  • Maintain certification in CPR/ First-Aid, TCI and participate in all scheduled staff trainings/ meetings.
  • Maintain students’ confidentiality at all times, report all pertinent information to supervisor.
  • Pursue appropriate channels of communication.
  • Understand the administrative structure, chain of command and program philosophy of VPI.
  • Accurately complete their timecard and it’s approval.
  • Appropriately represent VPI to the community, students’ parents and outside agencies.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience working with disturbed adolescents.

Summary: The primary responsibility of the clinician is to provide clinical services and supports that are and individualized, youth-guided, trauma informed, aligned with the permanency goals of youth, and strength-based. These services include, but are not limited to individual, family, group counseling, case management, and case consultation and collaboration. Supervision and Support: Clinicians report to directly the Clinical Director. Support and oversight of relevant operational functions of the role also fall under the purview of the Director of Operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, group, family therapy and case management services.
  • Create Individualized Treatment Plans that are strength based, address the individual needs of students and are guided by best practices in trauma informed care.
  • Serve as liaison to student’s parents, referring agency, permanency team members, and community resources as indicated by treatment and permanency plans.
  • Maintain data related to clinical services and submit to Clinical Director as requested.
  • Participate in treatment, permanency and discharge planning with student, family and agency personnel involved with students.
  • Participate in clinical on call rotation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and associated documentation including but not limited to psychosocial reports, ITP’s, case notes, CAFAS reports and other required assessments, correspondence with relevant stake holders and monthly reports.
  • Provide case consultation to members of treatment team as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information in provision of services except when appropriate legal consent is given to do otherwise. Inform students of the limits of confidentiality, which includes information (1) needed to develop the treatment plan, (2) indicating the student is at risk of harming self or others, including running away behavior, (3) regarding criminal conduct of students or others, (4) indicating abuse or threat of abuse within and outside the facility.
  • Collaborate with consulting psychiatrist as it relates to medication management including the incidence of side effects.
  • Maintain clinical license or status on state registry.
  • Understand and adhere to the administrative structure, chain of command and program philosophy of VPI.
  • Appropriately represent VPI to the community, students’ parents and outside agencies.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related projects and activities as requested.

(Exceptions are made for experienced clinical staff who are currently employed by organization this exemption does not apply for new hires).
  • Experience working with children and/or adolescents.
